Diecast Models - Dinky Hudson Commodore Series
Another one of my favourite Dinkys' became the second subject for my "Series" projects. As usual I commenced with a repaint as close to an original as possible and then created variations from there. As with the Ford Sedan but with some slight differences the Series took shape with the result being the production of some unique models. All the variations have been fitted with interiors and windscreens. Usually different wheels and tyres have been used to enhance the look. Two tone paint was nearly standard for vehicles of that period. All castings used were "wrecks" which made the project all the more satisfying.
Repainted to resemble a colour combination done by Dinky. Inclusion in the series allows the original model to be compared with the variations as modified.

The roof has been chopped , shortened and lowered . The for doors removed and a lengthened front door added to resemble a coupe. A two tone blue paintwork was chosen to fit the period as were whitewall tyres and the sun visor. Again one of my favourite modifications.

I did find a photo of a real Hudson Commodore Utility so I decided to copy it including the colour scheme that was used. It looked very striking in real life. I am not sure if it was a factory done model or if it was a creation as a one off. I hope my model looks as believable as the real thing.

Chopped and extended to make a station wagon. The rear oval window from the model utilised as the rear window of the wagon. A frame built to accommodate the extension. Roof done as a vinyl version and the usual interior and wheels added to complete the look of the period.

Left as a 4 door although a 2 door would have been better. Repainted in two colours merging into each other . A darker candy colour overlaid from the front. A bit of stencil work on the doors and very wide wheels used to complete the model.

Roof removed and converted to a cabriolet. Interior and a two tone paint completes the look keeping it in sync with the others in this series.
