Diecast Models - Dinky Ford Sedan Series
Dinky's Ford Sedan is one of my favourite models and was the very first model I modified. I converted it from the original to a two door coupe. It is still today my favourite modification. It struck me after to do other variations of models using the same casting as there were plenty of "wrecks" available. I had already done a repaint of a colour similar to that done by the factory so the idea of doing a Series of Models all using the same casting but creating very different models appealed. The rest of the various series I did followed from the first series I developed being this Dinky Ford.
An original 4 door model repainted. It forms part of the series showing an example of what the casting looks like before the modifications are completed.
The roof was removed and shortened as well as lowered. Th back was filled in to elongate the boot. The doors were refilled and longer front doors were inserted. An interior was fitted as well as windscreens. After market tyres added and a real car paint was used coated with a suitable one pack clear coat to bring up the shine.

A repainted version of an original but modified with the inclusion of an interior, windscreen and windows. The model has aftermarket wheels and tyres to give it a Custom look and the model lowered slightly. Green metallic water based paint has been used.

This casting was chopped behind the front doors and the model converted to a utility. Again I continued the look with interior and windscreen with after market wheels and tyres. A utility was a must.

Ford never did a real version of this to my knowledge but they should have. Chopped and modified to two door. A roadster kit included like in the Thunderbirds. Again would have looked odd without the interior and different wheels. By now I was running out of ideas for the next in the series.

The idea of a fastback for the series was appealing. Again converted to a two door the fastback build was challenging. Complete with the theme an interior , wheels and two tone metallic paint competed this unusual model. Since completion the paint on the rear has some slight damage and matching the colour is near impossible as I mixed specifically for this model.

The mating of a Dinky Ford and a Dinky Caravan ended up looking like this. A real fantasy vehicle hand built and unique I think. The paint used was real vehicle paints and needed a high gloss clear coat to bring out the sparkle and shine. This ended my Ford series vehicles.
