Diecast Models - CORGI CHEVROLET IMPALA
Corgi's Chevrolet Impala is one of it's popular models. This is the sedan version as it was also done as a State Patrol car. Corgi had to alter the way it sprayed these models to allow the part under the fins to receive the paint. Like with all these diecast models there are a few standard variations that make good projects. The sedan came with a windscreen and interior standard from the factory so the modifications became easier than some of the early Dinky conversions. The wheels were a bit skinny for some of the conversions and as usual were altered.
The donor is a Corgi Impala which was a fire chief car. It has been totally restored and painted as a Military Police version which I do not think was done by the factory.
Repainted as close to an original factory colour which was referred to as Delft Rose. The paint was mixed by me using a photo of an original model as a guide.

Chevrolet's real life pickup was known as El Camino and so I did my best to produce one in a similar fashion. Chopped behind the drivers door and the rear portion of the roof rejoined. Interior modified and wheels added.

Created from a Corgi Impala and using after market batmobile parts. The rear wings were added for effect. While Corgi already has a bat mobile it was satisfying to create a unique version. The Impala lent itself ideally for such a project. It took a bit of fabricating but it turned out okay.

Done as we would do up a real life custom version. Repainted in a sparkling green metallic paint but distinguished with an off white roof and boot lid . After market wheels as usual.

Another custom version that you could quite believably see on the streets of LA. Lowered, side exhausts and a neat set of wheels create the lowrider effect. Two tone paint with a bit more flair in the separation is what we would expect from a real life version.
